If you need something marked permanently in metal, we can help. From our workshop at The Clay Factory in Ivybridge, on the edge of Dartmoor, we mark & etch metal for customers across Devon & the wider South West.
Worth knowing upfront: a CO₂ laser like ours can't cut or engrave bare steel or aluminium directly, because polished metal reflects the beam. What it does brilliantly is mark coated & treated metals. Anodised aluminium, powder-coated surfaces & stainless steel prepared with a marking compound all take a crisp, permanent mark that won't rub off.
What we mark
Anodised aluminium is our favourite to work with. The laser lifts the anodised layer to reveal the bright metal beneath, giving a clean, high-contrast result that's ideal for nameplates, tags, control panels & branded gifts. On powder-coated steel we get a similar effect, removing the coating to expose the metal underneath.
For stainless steel & other bare metals, we use a marking compound that bonds to the surface under the laser, leaving a durable black mark. It's the go-to for tools, equipment plates, hip flasks & anything that needs to survive daily handling.
